Healing Through Transformational and Spiritual Counselling

About Cheryl Grant
Depth-Oriented Psychotherapist, Dreamwork & Creative Guide
I was born in Montreal, raised by the ocean in Halifax, and eventually found my home - and my calling - here in Ottawa. In addition to the journey to completing my Master’s degree in Social Work at Carleton University, I spent a decade in Child Protection, supporting children and families through some of life’s most complex challenges.
Later, my path expanded into school and hospital settings before I opened my private practice - work that has now spanned over a decade of counselling individuals, couples, children, youth, and families.
Throughout it all, I’ve been drawn to what lives beneath the surface - the deeper stories, symbols, and emotions that shape how we see ourselves and the world.
“Healing happens when we make room for what’s been hidden — and listen to the wisdom that’s been waiting there all along.”
Becoming a Depth-Oriented Therapist: How I Work & What To Expect
Like many healers, my own burnout became a teacher. It invited me to slow down, to reconnect with the unseen world of dreams, intuition, and creativity - and to rediscover meaning in the process of helping others do the same.
Today, as a Registered Social Worker and Transformation Counsellor, my practice blends trauma-informed psychotherapy with depth psychology, dreamwork, and creative process. I help people uncover limiting beliefs, work through emotional patterns, and reconnect to their own clarity and sense of purpose.
My work is rooted in the belief that therapy isn’t only about symptom relief - it’s about returning to wholeness, imagination, and self-trust.
Your first step is a 50-minute initial session where we explore what’s bringing you here, what you’re hoping to understand or shift, and what you need to feel supported. From there, we move gently between your inner world (patterns, beliefs, emotions, dreams) and your outer world (relationships, stressors, responsibilities) to understand what holds the most weight in your life - and how to move toward a more grounded, aligned, and authentic way of being.
This work is paced to your readiness, trauma-informed, and rooted in helping you reconnect with your own inner guidance system - your wisdom.
I offer counselling sessions virtually across Ontario or in person at Westboro Wellness in Ottawa.
Counselling receipts are available for insurance purposes; please confirm that your plan covers sessions with a Registered Social Worker (M.S.W., R.S.W.).
For those outside Ontario - or for anyone seeking non-clinical support with respect to dreamwork, journaling guidance, shadow work, or creative inner work practices - I also offer virtual sessions worldwide.
“Between what is known and what is unknown, there is always a conversation. Therapy is where we learn to listen.”

Depth-oriented therapist, myth-maker, and full-time assistant to two stealthy feline masterminds.
Outside the therapy room, I’m often writing - currently crafting a fantasy-meets-mythology trilogy that explores many of the same themes that guide my work: transformation, meaning, and the wisdom of dreams. I also design and teach creative and spiritual development courses. Feel free to check my Offerings.
At home, I live with my son and our two newer additions: furry little felines who keep us on our toes. They are incredibly sweet, impressively stealthy, endlessly energetic, and far more strategic than they let on—quietly, not so quietly, running the household while pretending they aren’t.
I believe humour, imagination, and beauty are essential companions in both therapy and life.
